2/23/2026 · GusherLabs Team
From vision to action, GusherLabs continues to play an active role in strengthening community-led connectivity across Africa. As part of the Blended Training Programme for ICT Network Managers in Indigenous and Rural Communities (Africa Edition 2025–2026), GusherLabs participated in the Africa Network Managers Bootcamp held in Nairobi, Kenya.
The programme, led by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Association for Progressive Communications (APC), Rhizomatica, AFRALTI, and Tanda Community Network, brought together network managers and community leaders from across the continent. The initiative is designed to equip rural and Indigenous communities with the technical and operational capacity to build, manage, and sustain their own connectivity solutions.
Hosted at AFRALTI in Nairobi, the bootcamp provided a platform for peer learning, collaboration, and practical problem-solving. Participants engaged in hands-on sessions, including solar-powered network installations, while also sharing experiences on sustainability models and community-driven approaches to connectivity. These interactions offered valuable insights into how different community networks are addressing real-world challenges across diverse environments.
Through this engagement, GusherLabs gained practical knowledge and strengthened partnerships that will contribute to advancing digital inclusion initiatives in Malawi. The experience reinforces our commitment to building resilient, locally-driven digital ecosystems that empower underserved communities through technology, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
As the journey continues, GusherLabs looks forward to applying these learnings, collaborating with other networks, and further contributing to Africa’s growing community connectivity movement.
